Finance Manager

Improveit, an award-winner remodeling leader for over 35 years, has a unique opportunity for an individual with consumer finance management experience to take on an exciting role focusing on assisting customers to secure the best loan for their recently purchased home improvement project. 

The Finance Manager plays a critical role in our ability to delight our homeowners from the beginning of their customer journey with us. This role requires a passion for delivering the best customer experience during the sales process by making financing easy and painless. You'll be in the forefront of ensuring we are quickly and effectively matching the right lender to each customer and facilitating fast and error-free loan processing through collaboration with customers, our sales organization, and outside lenders. You’re the key sales and finance intermediary, dedicated to service excellence, operational efficiency and high customer satisfaction ratings. 

The ideal candidate for this role is both finance and sales-minded, tech-savvy, and able to communicate effectively to continually advance our financing program and grow our revenues.  

Consumer Finance Manager Job Duties 

• Collaborate with the Sales Managers and Sales Design Consultants during in-home sales appointments and advise them on the most suitable credit option for each customer’s needs and budget. 

• Optimize company profitability by approving credit requests while factoring in dealer fees, buy-downs, and risk fees. 

• Develop and implement strategies to reduce credit declines and resells. 

• Work with lenders and customers to find credit approvals for customers through HELOC programs, credit unions, and other non-traditional finance companies. 

• To avoid delays in job progress, ensure proper completion and submission of all financial documents, including required lender stipulations. 

• Conduct both virtual and in-home finance resells with customers who are under contract to find favorable financing options for both the homeowner and Improveit. 

• Collaborate with a variety of depts on creative financing options and “open to buy” financing projects to add Increase the scope / total sale amount. 

• Monitor and report on the performance of the lender portfolio, including approval rates, fees, number of submissions, and program availability. 

• Conduct market research on lenders that are not part of our portfolio, including analyzing their strengths and weaknesses, evaluating the possibility of future collaboration, and ensuring that our portfolio covers all consumer credit tiers in the most competitive way. 

• Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, and Operations to resolve credit issues and disputes. 

• Remain current on the latest trends and regulations in the home improvement industry and the credit market. 

• Document, create and maintain SOPs pertaining to the credit process with Sales Design Consultants and other audiences. 

Consumer Finance Manager Required Skills: 

• Previous oversight of consumer loan management process 

• Advanced mathematical acumen 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

• Skilled in negotiation and achieving agreement 

• Ability to relate positively to the customer and develop rapport and trust 

• Ability to multi-task and make decisions with varied degrees of information 

• Ability to think quickly while using sound judgement 

• Strong technical skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) 

• Salesforce.com experience, a plus 

Consumer Finance Manager Qualifications: 

• Business or finance-related undergraduate degree 

• 3-5 years of experience managing consumer loans or consumer financing
